After Kitchen Fire, Cocina Medina Mexican Restaurant Set to Reopen

by ECT

On Tuesday June 27, the popular Cocina Medina Mexican Restaurant in Antioch is set to re-open after being closed since a fire damaged the kitchen area.

The fire broke out at 7:20 am on April 24 behind a stove which caused the entire kitchen to be torn out. The damage could have been worse had their neighbor at Land Home Financial not smelled the smoke and called it in. Contra Costa County firefighters quick response to the scene also was vital to preventing a full blown fire.

After the fire, the family vowed to reopen and come back stronger than ever.

Over the past two-months, the Medina’s have been showing progress via social media as they worked their way back to reopening and are excited to be able to provide service again to local residents.

“We are over the moon excited to reopen the doors of Cocina Medina,” said Alejandra Medina. “We have missed our Cocina Medina family immensely. This has been a long tough road but we were able to keep focused on the task at hand because of all of the kind messages of encouragement. We can’t wait to see you all.”

The restaurant will open at 11:00 am and is located at 5005 Lone Tree Way in Antioch.
