6.0 Earthquake Hits American Canyon, Shakes East County

A 6.0 earthquake out of American Canyon awoke the Bay Area up at 3:20 am Sunday morning. The quake was felt throughout the Bay Area as emergency crews were dispatched to check for damages on bridges as well as perform area checks for damage around towns. Resides in Napa are reporting damage from inside homes, power outages and down power poles.

Several law enforcement agencies and fire departments had to issue reminders that unless you have an emergency, please do not call 9-1-1.

As of 4:32 am, there have been 8 aftershocks with the largest being measured at 2.3.
