Shortly after 10:00 am Tuesday, Antioch Police responded to a report of a woman waving a knife on the campus of Antioch High School.

According to radio traffic, the subject was first near the auditorium and then near the front of the school.

Police quickly arrived on campus where the female had the knife to her throat threatening to cut herself. Police learned the female was looking for her School Resource Officer. After about 10 minutes, police defused the situation and convinced the female put the knife down in the school parking lot after her mom made her way onto campus.

The incident appeared to be limited to the parking lot area and students were not in danger as school staff, Strategic Threat Management, AMR were all on scene joining police.

The 16-year-old female was a former student of the school who was trespassing on campus. After she put the knife down, Antioch Police took her into custody without incident where she is now being held for medical observation. The female may have been involved in a family altercation prior to arriving onto school campus.

Poor baby, life can be harsh sometimes and this is a tough age already. Hope she gets some help & support she needs.

My prayers are with this young person. They have lost their voice in this day and age. It has been replaced with hatred & violence. With crime & drugs. Everyone should say prayers for the kids caught up in the crossfires of addicted or incarcerated parents. Remember THEY are OUR future & if we treat them badly, what will we have taught them?

Unfortunately our system offers little help.

Our system does offer help Julio. Its just that many of these Kids do not have parents with any sense to lead them to the help. I agree with cherry that young adults have lost their way in making a better future. Too many entitlements make that road an easy one to follow. Such a shame. I pray she gets some attention with the proper people who can help her.

I think she would have been better off trespassing onto a hospital and proclaiming she intends to hurt herself.
